Harvest StompedeThe annual Harvest Stompede is the weekend of September 7 & 8, 2013. Tickets are limited & we will sell out!

This annual weekend features a spectacular race through Leelanau’s vineyards followed by a self guided wine tour of LPVA member wineries featuring world class wines and culinary delights that reflect the season’s bounty. In 2013 we are once again highlighting local foods, and each winery’s food pairing will feature locally sourced items.

2012 Harvest Stompede Food Pairings (2013 pairings coming this summer!)

Who Won by Church of OneThe weekend’s festivities kick off at 9:00am on Saturday morning at Ciccone Vineyard with the Harvest Stompede race. While race registration is not included with your wine tour ticket or in any way required, it’s considered one of the most unique races in the country – a great event for spectators. The one-of-a-kind course meanders through rolling vineyard rows that are heavy with ripe wine grapes that are soon to be picked. The race is designed for both serious and recreational runners or walkers, with options for a 5K walk, 5K run, or 7 mile run. (click for race registration – new window)

The Harvest Stompede Wine Tour starts at 11:00am on Saturday following the race (11 AM – 6 PM) and continues on Sunday from noon – 5 PM. Your $40 ticket includes a special wine pour and food pairing at each of 23 Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association member wineries. To highlight our region’s culinary excellence, each winery will be partnering with farmers and restaurants to feature local ingredients in their food pairings.

The Ride Around Torch is an annual one-day 26, 63, or 100 mile bicycle tour primarily along the scenic shores of Torch Lake, Michigan’s longest and one of its most beautiful inland lakes with unusually clear, bright turquoise hued waters. Several villages and hamlets lie along the lake’s shore including Alden, Eastport, Clam River and Torch River. The ride is a recreational, social tour that is neither a race nor a test of strength although the very hilly 100 mile route can be a challenge.

The 26 mile ride is an out and back around the north end of Elk Lake through Torch River to the food stop at Crystal Beach Park. Same hills and flats of the other routes only less.

Our signature 63 mile ride circles Torch Lake passing through Eastport, Clam River, Alden and Torch River with hills, flats, scenic views and multiple food stops.

The 100 mile ride is a challenging century with the rolling shoreline of Torch Lake, extreme hills and then some. Racing clusters are not recommended.
